DORIS BINNS GILES, Waukee

Doris Binns Giles, 97, passed away on July 28, 2007 in West Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be at Waukee United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 2 with visitation one hour prior to services, followed by burial at Dallas Center Brethren Cemetery.

Doris was born May 18, 1910 in Madison County, IA, the daughter of Charles and Emma Binns. She was a teacher in a one-room school house to begin her career, and retired from Waukee Community Schools in 1972.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Thomas Denton, brothers and sisters-in-laws Gene (Alberta) Binns and Leonard (Margaret) Binns.

Doris is survived by her second husband, Bill Giles, stepson Richard (Carolyn) Giles of Rochester, MN, stepdaughters Linda (Dallas) Hakeman and Marlene (Dan) Warren both of Waukee, 7 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchldren, nieces, Jean (Cliff) Bergman of Sugarland, TX, Kathy (D.J.) Jordan of Prole, IA, Diane (Steve) Millsap of Greenfield, IA, nephews Gary Binns of Cedar Hill, TX, Denny (Kathy) Binns of Winterset, 7 great nieces and nephews and 14 great great nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Waukee United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Waukee United Methodist Church or Waukee Community School Foundation.
