MRS. ELVIRA COMBS DIED ON WEDNESDAY

Widow of Late James Combs Was Long-Time Resident of This Community

Mrs. Elvira Combs, one of this community's oldest residents, died at a nursing home here Wednesday Sept. 24 at the age of 80 years.

Mrs. Combs was the former Elvira Tullis, daughter of Erwin and Sarah Batson Tullis. She was born in Ohio June 30, 1872 but came to Madison county early in life. She had lived in Winterset for many years.

She was married to James L. Combs Jan. 31, 1893. His death occurred last May. Her nearest surviving relatives are nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
