IVER ARETOUS POWELL

Iver Aretous Powell, son of Samuel & Nettie Ogburn Powell, was born near East Peru, Madison county, Iowa, Dec. 13, 1896, and died Jan. 14, 1913, aged sixteen years, one month and one day.

Most of his life was spent near East Peru. About two years ago his parents moved to St. Charles, where he has since lived, and where he made many friends. He was a frail boy and has borne his sickness bravely, and was always thoughtful of others and told them "Dont worry about me, I am all right. It is all right with me". Iver went to Peru to spend his birthday with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Ogburn, apparently as well as could be when he left home. He was taken ill before reaching his destination. The doctor pronounced it appendicitis and his condition grew rapidly worse until death released him from his suffering.

He leaves to mourn his loss a father, mother, two sisters, two grandmothers, a grandfather and a large number of friends.

The funeral was held at the Peru M. E. church Thursday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. C. K. Corkill of New Virginia, and the body laid to rest in the Peru cemetery.
