Runnells

Carl Dooley, 80, died Tuesday, July 24 at his home of lung cancer. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday at Woodland Hills Church of Christ, 3040 SE 72nd Street, Runnells. Burial will be at Warren Powers Cemetery.

Carl was born March 13, 1927 to Selma Genzler and Alvin Dooley in Davenport, IA. He lived in Peru, IA and Bondurant for 16 years before he moved to Runnells 36 years ago.

He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and on June 22, 1947 was united in marriage to Darlene Kirsch. Carl retired in 1992 from John Deere where he worked for 30 years and was a member of UAW Local 450. Carl loved his grandchildren and enjoyed horses and dogs.

Carl is survived by his children, Rick Dooley, Ron (Cindy) Dooley and Ramona (Ed) McEuen all of Runnells; his grandchildren, Josh, Chad, Matt, and Kristin Dooley, Lacey (Cody) Nelson, and Megan and Nicole McEuen; two great-grandchildren, Trenton and Ashlyn Nelson, all of Runnells. He is also survived by his companion Helen Stephenson of Des Moines; and four sisters, Delores (Guy) Hayden, Amoura (Paul) Stock, Eldeen Binns and Gloria Miller.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Darlene; his parents and three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hills Church of Christ.

Carl Dooley, 80, of Runnells died of lung cancer July 24, 2007, at his home.

Carl Dooley was born March 13, 1927, in Davenport to Alvin and Selma (Genzler) Dooley. His marriage to Darlene Kirsch took place June 22, 1947. Carl resided in Peru and Bondurant for 16 years before moving to Runnels 36 years ago. He was employed by John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Carl was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He also was a member of UAW Local 450.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by two sons, Rick Dooley and Ron Dooley, both of Runnells; one daughter, Ramona McEuen of Runnells; his companion, Helen Stephenson of Des Moines; four sisters, Delores Hayden, Amoura Stock, Eldeen Binns and Gloria Miller; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Woodland Hills Church of Christ. Funeral arrangements were handled by Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines.
