RETURN MRS. PETERS HERE FOR BURIAL

Funeral services for Mrs. Ross Peters of Long Beach, California, former Winterset resident will be held at the Anderson home for Funerals, Friday, September 2nd at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Peters, who was about 78 years of age had been in poor health for several years and death came last Saturday afternoon.

She was the former Ory Hays a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim T. Hays and was born in Douglas township. She attended the Washington school in that neighborhood and later the Winterset, finishing in the year 1895. She taught in the rural schools of Madison county, and was later married to C. R. Peters, also a native of Winterset.

They made their home in Winterset, where he was in the Implement business for a number of years, until they moved to Des Moines about 20 years ago. After her husband's retirement about eight years ago, they moved to Long Beach, to be near their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Carleton Peters.

Mrs. Peters was along time member of the Baptist church and was active in church activities. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Chapter AG, PEO and Kensington club.

She is survived by her husband and their son and his wife, who will arrive in Winterset Thursday.

MRS. PETERS BURIED HERE LAST FRIDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. C. R. Peters of Long Beach, California were here last Friday afternoon, September 2 at the Anderson Home for Funerals. They were conducted by her former pastor Rev. Lewis Jacobsen of the 1st Baptist church of Des Moines at 2 o'clock and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. Mrs. Peters, 78 years of age, died August 27 after an extended illness.

The former Ory Hays, daughter of James and Melinda Hays, pioneer residents of Douglas township, was born January 27, 1877. She attended rural school in that community and later the Winterset school, graduating with the class of 1896. She taught school in the county until her marriage to Mr. Peters on December 31, 1902. They lived in Winterset until they moved to Des Moines in 1929, and in August 1950 they moved to Long Beach which has since been their home.

She joined the Early Chapel church in Jackson township, and after her marriage she became a member of the 1st Baptist church in Winterset. She later transferred her membership to Des Moines and then when she went to Long Beach to the Calvary Baptist church there.

She was a past matron of the Winterset chapter of O.E.S. and a past president of Chapter GX P.E.O. in Des Moines.

Her survivors include her husband, their son, Carleton H. Peters of Long Becah and a brother Earl Hays of Spring Valley, California.
