MRS. NORA RICKETS DIED LAST WEDNESDAY

Long-Time Resident of Barney Was 80 Years of Age

Mrs. Nora Rickets, who live most of her life in the Barney community, died last Wednesday, July 20 at the Clarke county hospital in Osceola, after a brief illness. She was 80 years of age.

Mrs. Rickets was the former Nora Isabel Gibbons, daughter of James and Isabel Gibbons. She was born in Madison county March 9, 1875. On Sept. 17, 1899, she was married at Barney to Edwin G. Rickets, who preceded her in death in 1942.

They were parents of four children. One son, Fred Rickets died in 1933 and Mrs. Rickets took one of his sons, Raymond, aged 4 into her home. In recent years she had made her home with this grandson near Afton.

Surviving are two sons, Eldon Rickets of Afton and Floyd Rickets of Tracy, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Simpson of Winterset; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Barney church and burial was made in the Barney cemetery. The Rev. O. E. Richardson of Murray officiated.
