KOBLE SERVICES HELD LAST FRIDAY

Death of Truro Resident Occurred June 21 at Des Moines

Emlen W. Koble a resident of near Truro the last 12 years, died at Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Tuesday, June 21. He was 69 years of age, and had been in rapidly failing health since early in May.

Mr. Koble was a native of Liberty Center where he was born Feb. 24, 1886, a son of Henry and Climena Koble. When he was five years old, he moved with his parents to Clark county where he lived until moving to Madison county in 1943.

He was married April 19, 1925 at Bloomfield to Mable R. Lough, who survives him.

During the past three years they had maintained their residence at Truro, but during the school year lived at Yarmouth, where Mrs. Koble has been teaching school.

At an early age he united with the Bethel Chapel Christian Union church and in 1926 with the First Methodist church at Osceola. Recently his membership had been with the Truro Methodist church. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a brogher, Roscoe Koble of Mt. Pleasant; and two sisters, Mrs. Capitola Coyle of Osceola and Mrs. Mabel Severns of Perry.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the Kale Funeral home at Truro, conducted by the Rev. Darrel Smith of Yarmouth and the Rev. Shilling of Truro. Burial was made at Liberty Center.

Emlen Winfield Koble, son of Henry and Climena Koble, was born at Liberty Center, Iowa, Feb. 24, 1886 and passed away at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, June 21, 1955 at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 27 days. His parents moved to a farm in Clarke county when he was five years of age.

In 1943 he moved to a farm in Madison county near Truro, where he resided at the time of his death.

He was united in marriage to Mabel Ruth Lough of Bloomfield April 19, 1925.

He united with the Bethel Chapel Christian Union church at an early age. In 1926 he moved his membership to the First Methodist church, Osceola. At the time of his death he was a member of the Truro Methodist church.

Win spent much time in Bible study and church work.

He was a member of the IOOF lodge at Indianola.

Those left to mourn his departure are his wife Mabel, one brother Roscoe Koble, Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Severns, Perry and Mrs. Capitola Coyle, Osceola. Also a host of friends and relatives.

Preceding his in death were his father, mother, four brothers, Caddy, Emmett, Clyde and Jesse and five sisters, Mrs. Mary Taylor, Mrs. Emma Woods, Mrs. Ada Edgerton, Cora and Myra Koble.

He was a kind and loving husband and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

On May 3rd he entered Mercy hospital at Burlington where he remained until May 21st. Being released he returned to his home near Truro. His suffering became so intense on June 12th that he was taken to the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, where he passed away.

The past three years of his life were spent at Yarmouth, during the school year, where his wife was a teacher in the Yarmouth consolidated school, returning to his home in the spring where he was engaged in farming during the summer.

The pallbearers, nephews of Mr. Koble were Clifford Coyle, Osceola, Harlan Woods, Osceola, Robert Taylor, Hudson, Everett Severns, Jamaica, Frank Elgerton, Omaha, Nebr., and Eugene Koble, Mt. Pleasant.

Music was furnished by Effie DeLong and Wanda Freeberg, organist, Mrs. Delores Kale.

Rev. Darrel Smith of Yarmouth assisted by Rev. Shilling were the officiating ministers. Services were held at the Kale Funeral home. I.O.O.F. service at graveside. Interment was made in the Liberty Center cemetery at Liberty Center.
