Death of Sanford Turpin

Bevington Special, Nov. 25, 1931.

Sanford Turpin died in Clarinda where he had been the past two months on November 19th at the age of 78 years and 7 days. Funeral services were held on Sunday in the Lutheran church in Martensdale and were conducted by the Rev. L. G. Krebs of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church of Des Moines. Burial was in Linn Grove cemetery. Mr. Turpin was born at his late home in Warren county, near Bevington, November 12, 1853, and has lived here almost continuously all his life time until failing health necessitated his removal to the state hospital at Clarinda.

Surviving members of his family are two brothers, Louis of Chicago and Zachary of Omaha; and four sisters, Mrs. Minerva McGinnis of Mulvane, Kansas and Mrs. Huldah Fogelsong of Truro; Mrs. Rosetta Smith of Missouri; and Mrs. Mary Wagner of Des Moines. Other relatives present at the funeral were: Mrs. Asa Turpin Craig of Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Turpin, Mrs. Florence Amesburg, Mr. and Mrs. Auchel, Martin Smith and Mr. and Mrs. George Shettle, all of Des Moines; Mrs. Louis Turpin of Chicago and Mrs. Zachary Turpin of Omaha, Nebraska.

Pall bearers were Messrs. Dan Clark, H. Hamm, Joe Seymour, William Strable, William Lodge and J. H. McManus. Mrs. Turpin died about twelve years ago.
