Recent Resident Here Found Dead Under Car Near Greenfield
Cloyd L. Thompson, 28 years old, recently of Winterset, was killed about 1 o'clock Sunday morning when the car he was driving left the road and turned over in a 15-foot ditch south of Greenfield.
The accident occurred on Highway No. 25 about 6 miles south of Greenfield. Passing motorists found Thompson dead, pinned under the car with the right wheel on his chest. Dr. Edna Sexsmith, Adair county coroner, said that he had apparently fallen asleep at the wheel.
Thompson was employed at the Montross pharmacy in Winterset for six weeks earlier this summer, leaving their employ about July 1.
He was married only recently to Leona Hendricks of Winterset. Since leaving here he had been living in Des Moines and was employed as a dock worker by the Blue Line Transfer company of that city.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Thompson, Sr. of Des Moines, two brothers and four sisters.
