Eugene M. Swanson, 80, of Adel, died April 5, 2002 of respiratory failure at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 8, at Rapids Street Baptist Church is Adel. Burial was at Paton Cemetery.
Eugene Swanson was born Sept. 2, 1921 to Severt and Margaret (Kruse) Swanson of Ogden. On Dec. 1, 1939, he married Miriam Pankey in Paton, Eugene was co-owner of E. & M. Construction and also farmed, retiring in 1983. A resident of Adel since 1955, he also had resided in Gowrie, Fort Dodge and Dana. He was a member of the Rapids Street Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam of Adel; two sons, Gary Swanson of Dawson and Dean Swanson of Adel; two daughters, Sharon Spring of Dallas Center and Donna Simpson of Adel; a sister, Mildred M. Swisher of Estherville; 13 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
