LeRoy Songer, Winterset

LeRoy Songer, 59, of Winterset died March 8, 2001 of a brain hemorrhage at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held March 13 at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset. Pastor John Shaull officiated the services and burial followed at Winterset Cemetery.

He was born April 29, 1941 in Grand Junction to William C. and Queen (Boone) Songer. He married Bonnie A. Raber on January 20, 1962 at the First Christian Church in Winterset. He was a jailer for five years at the Madison County Sheriff's office in Winterset, a Ford mechanic working for various dealers and he also farmed.

He was preceded in death by his father, his wife and one brother.

Surviving relatives include his mother; one son Jamie Songer and wife Twana of Winterset; one daughter, Jodi Griffith and husband Dean of Thayer; two brothers, Lyle Songer and wife Barbara of Escondido, California and Everett Songer and wife Ruth of Perry; three sisters, Vera Mur and husband Ray of Des Moines, Marilyn Bishop and husband Bill of Lemar, Colorado and Shirley McMann and husband Roger of Loveland, Colorado and two grandchildren.
