MRS. JAMES A. SMITH DIES

Word was received here last week of the death of Mrs. James A. Smith, former Des Moines resident at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pashong of Los Angeles, Calif., Thursday, July 28th. Mrs. Smith who was 85 years of age had always made her home in Des Moines until a few years ago when she went to reside with her daughter and family. Her husband who was a former Madison county resident died in Des Moines in 1935.

She was a member of the Cottage Grove Presbyterian church and the Rev. Harry C. Shiffler conducted her funeral services in Des Moines, Tuesday afternoon, at the Carl White West Grand funeral home. Burial was made in the Masonic cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Pashong and a granddaughter, Patricia of Los Angeles. Her husband was a brother of Ed M. Smith of Winterset.
