ELIZABETH MATHEWS OF ST. CHARLES DIES

Mrs. Elizabeth M. Mathews, a life-long resident of the St. Charles community, died at her home there on Monday, April 4. She was 64 years of age.

Mrs. Mathews was the former Elizabeth Matilda Downs, daughter of Alfred and Emma Downs. She was born in St. Charles Jan. 19, 1891. She had been a member of the Church of Christ there since childhood.

She was married March 7, 1910, to Ralph O. Mathews, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are her six children, Mrs. Catherine Addy of Winterset, Mrs. Juanita Kellogg of Encino, Calif., Mrs. Ella Jean Fuson of Des Moines, Odell Mathews at home, Willis Mathews of San Diego, Calif., and John Mathews of Truro; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Thursday from the St. Charles Church of Christ, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Evans. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
