I. B. Knowles, a former resident of Madison county, died at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Saturday evening, April 29th after an illness of nine weeks. Mr. Knowles taught school for many years and used to spend his summers on a farm northwest of Winterset. Mrs. A. P. Keast of Winterset is his niece. He leaves his wife and one daughter, Marjorie.
Funeral services were held at Dunn's funeral home in Des Moines, Tuesday afternoon, May 2, at 3:30 o'clock and burial was in a Des Moines cemetery.

C. W. McBride, Miss Opal McBride, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Olson and Eddie, Mrs. Hazel Silverthorn and Phillip, Mrs. Gladys Beaman, Rev. A. P. Keast of Winterset, Dr. James Tough, Mrs. Katie Tough and daughter Lois of Earlham attended the funeral services of I. B. Knowles, held at Dunn’s funeral home in Des Moines Tuesday afternoon, May 2. He died at the Methodist hospital. Interment was in Laurel Hill cemetery in Des Moines.
Mr. Knowles was a former resident of Winterset and was a graduate of the Winterset high school. One of his first terms of school was taught at Worthington. He soon moved to Des Moines where he was instructor in the public schools for almost forty years. In 1894 he was married to Miss Emma Bowlsby. His summer vacations were spent with Mrs. Knowles’ mother Mrs. Maria Bowlsby on a farm in the Worthington neighborhood. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Miss Marjorie Knowles of Des Moines.
