FUNERAL TUESDAY FOR HERBERT MARTIN

Funeral services for Herbert P. Martin, a long-time resident of Madison County were held Tuesday afternoon from the First Christian church in Winterset.

Mr. Martin died last Saturday, Aug. 15, at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines. He was 75 years of age.

A son of William and Carrie McGlasson Martin, he was born Dec. 22, 1894 at Kirkville, Iowa. He moved to this county as a youth, continuing to live here for 70 years. He was a retired farmer.

On Aug. 31, 1920, he was married to Stella G. Hulbert. She died in 1969. He was also preceded in death by two sisters.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. Clifford Cleland of Des Moines, Mrs. Warren Speer of Indianola and Mrs. Fay Benge of Winterset; 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and one brother, Gordon Martin of St. Charles.

Officiating at the funeral Tuesday afternoon was the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur. Burial was in the St Charles cemetery.
