MRS. MARGARET KERR SUCCUMBED LAST WEEK

Death Occurred at Home of Her Son Near Orient at Age of 80

Mrs. Margaret A. Kerr, long-time resident of this community, died on Wednesday of last week, at the home of her son, L. J. Kerr, near Orient, where she had lived since last spring. She was 80 years of age.

Mrs. Kerr was the former Margaret Ann Brown, daughter of Isaac and Malinda Brown, and was born in Warren county on Dec. 23, 1859. At the age of six years she moved with her parents to Tama county from where they moved to Cass county.

She was married on August 27, 1877 to William Kerr of Atlantic. For 20 years they made their home on a farm near Massena. They moved to Madison county near Winterset in 1899, and since then their home had been here, with the exception of a few years in Missouri.

Mr. Kerr died five years ago.

Mrs. Kerr became a member of the Baptist church at Massena in 1899 and continued in that faith until the time of her death.

She is survived by her two sons, L. J. Kerr of Orient and R. C. Kerr of Wilmington, Cal.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Denham of Cumberland and Mrs. H. H. Stewart of Springfield, Mo., four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home last Saturday in charge of the Rev. J. H. Cochrane, Jr., pastor of the Baptist church. Burial was made in the Oak Grove cemetery.
