Page 1Death of Mrs. J. McKissick
Funeral services for Mrs. Jay (Pearl) McKissick of Des Moines were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church at Carlisle.
Mrs. McKissick was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Greenwood and was born and raised in this county. She was the granddaughter of the late Eli Cox.
Mrs. McKissick has been in ill health for over a year. Several weeks ago she became much worse and was taken to the Des Moines General hospital. Last Tuesday she asked to be taken to her home, where she passed away Thursday, February 4th.
She leaves her husband and four children, Cedric, Mary, Eldred and Margaret; her parents and five brothers and four sisters; Eli, Ward, Guiher and Merle of Winterset; Charles of Wyoming; Mrs. Grace Betts of Grimes; Mrs. Elizabeth Bryant of Chicago; Mrs. Margaret Lee of Batesville, Arkansas and Mrs. Cuddie Semier of Lamoni.
Her girlhood was spent in Madison county. After her marriage to Jay McKissick they moved to Carlisle where they had an interest in the McKissick tile factory. About six years ago they moved to Crawfordsville, Indiana, where they lived a year, then moving to Des Moines, where they have since made their home.
