Charles D. McKirgan, former Madison county resident, died Saturday in the Hartley, Iowa hospital in an automobile accident.
Funeral services for Mr. McKirgan who was 60 years of age, were held at Hamilton's funeral home in Des Moines this morning at 1 a.m. and burial was in Glendale cemetery.
Mr. McKirgan was born in Winona, Ill., and came to Iowa in 1900. Two years later he moved to a farm northwest of Winterset and in 1906 he was married to Miss Bertha Kitt of Earlham. The family lived at Peru and at Truro and left here in 1925. He had been a traveling salesman and has lately lived at Cherokee.
He is survived by his widow, Bertha; four daughters, Mrs. Vera Butler and Miss Blanche McKirgan, both of Des Moines, Mrs. Mabel Berry and Miss Geraldine McKirgan of Indiana; two sons, Carl of Des Moines and Ivan of Indianola; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Denning of Normal, Ill., and Mrs. Laura Fenton of Los Angeles, Cal., and a brother, Frank McKirgin of Des Moines.
