St. Charles-Special-Jan. 22-Mrs. Mary Hagan passed away at a hospital in Des Moines Saturday, Jan. 13, her death resulting from a broken hip a few days previously.
She was raised in the Banner neighborhood, and after her marriage to Wm. Hagan, lived many years on their farm near Truro. She is survived by a number of children and grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mattie Anderson Elarton of Asyka, Miss. Other relatives are her cousins, Mrs. Anna Anderson and Mrs. H. A. Mueller of St. Charles, who were unable to attend the funeral services in Des Moines. Burial was in Glendale.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary S. Hagan who died Saturday, Jan. 13, were held Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 16, at Dunn’s funeral home in Des Moines. Burial was made in Glendale cemetery.
Mrs. Hagan was the widow of the late William Hagan of Truro. She was the fourth daughter of William and Nancy Irwin Anderson who were pioneers of Ohio township, coming from Ohio in 1855. William Anderson was a prominent farmer and citizen of Madison County. He served three years in the Civil war in Company F, 39th Iowa Iinfantry. He was elected a member of the Board of Supervisors of Madison county serving three years, 1869, ’70 and ’71. He was a charter member of model Lodge No. 315, and his was the first death in its membership Dec. 1, 1875.
Mrs. Hagan is survived by five sons and three daughters, many grand and great-grandchildren, also one sister, Mrs. Mattie Ellerton of Osyka, Mississippi. Mr. Hagan died July 17, 1923 and one son, Dwight, died Sept. eight, 1938.
