Veva Gustafson, Red Oak

Veva Crain McCorkle Gustafson, 90, passed away Friday May 5, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Care Center.

Services were held Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Veva was born July 10, 1915 in Page county, Iowa, near Braddyville, the second of three daughters of Roy and Bessie (Crain) McCorkle. On Nov. 27, 1936, she eloped with Raymond McCorkle and they were married in Fremont, Neb. Veva held many positions in the Red Oak Chapter of the Business and Professional Women and an honorary member of Rotary International.

Veva is survived by her daughters; Connie Kinser and husband Jim of Winterset, Bette Larsen and husband Axel of Red Oak, Viki Heuton of Pleasant Hill, and Mary Younggren Longman of Orinda, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; her son, Mike; and her sisters Maxine Uhlich and Mary Swanson.
