E. R. GRAY DIES AT DES MOINES

Funeral services of Ernest R. Gray, former Truro and Madison county resident were held at Dunn's Funeral home in Des Moines Monday morning. Mr. Gray who was 68 years of age, died at the Iowa Methodist hospital, Thursday, August 25th after a brief illness.

Mr. Gray was born and reared near Truro and was graduated from the high school there. After teaching in the rural schools, he was graduated from the Capital City commercial college in Des Moines.

Mr. Gray was advertising manager of the former Des Moines Capital and later of an Ohio newspaper. In 1928 he became a special agent in Des Moines for the Prudential Life Insurance company, a position here held at his death.

He was a past president of the Des Moines association of Life Underwriters and a past trustee of the National Association of Life Underwriters. He was also a member of various clubs in Ded Moines, and was active in civic affairs.

Survivors are his wife, Peggy; two sons, Richard W. Gray of Indianapolis, Ind., and Lt. Col. Ernest R. Gray, Jr., Fort Lewis, Washington. He also leaves four sisters, two of whom reside in Winterset, Mrs. Fred Ray and Mrs. Harry Smith, Mrs. Edna Herzog of Melbourne and Ruth Gray of Marshalltown and two brothers, Harry Gray of St. Charles and Fred Gray of Golden, Colorado.
