Elbert Loren Gray, 90, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Jan. 28, 2002.
A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 4 at Paradise Valley Baptist Church in Phoenix.
Elbert Gray was born March 23, 1911 in Madison county to Cash and Maude (Jackson) Gray. He was an Iowa farmer for 40 years and in his last years as a farmer, a salesman for Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Company. In 1954, Elbert moved to Iowa City as a district sales manager for Pioneer. He retired from that position in 1976 and moved to Crestline, Calif., where he started an antique business. Approximately 10 years later, he moved to Phoenix, retiring for the second time. He was a member of the Paradise Valley Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ruby, two brothers and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Howe Gray of Phoenix; two sons, Elbert L. Gray of Chloride, Ariz., and Robert L. Gray of Crestline, Calif.; two daughters, Darlene J. Hamilton of Marshalltown and Donna L. Woolery of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Note: Burial in the Winterset Cemetery.
