JOHN SIMONS DIES

John Simons, former Winterset resident, died at his home near Mt. Ayr Saturday evening, July 6th at 5:30 p.m. Mr. Simons, who was 67 years of age, had been in poor health for the past year.

The Simons family came to Winterset in 1902, and they lived on a farm near here, and later moved to Winterset, where Mr. Simons was in business. His wife, who was the former Ella Starbuck, died in Winterset April 5, 1923. In 1924, Mr. Simons moved to a farm near Lorimor, and for the past few years has lived near Mt. Ayr. He was married to Lenora Fultz eleven years ago.

He is survived by his wife, his two sons: Hubert Simons of Lorimor and Lee Simons, aviation mechanical instructor at France Field, in Panama. He also leaves two grandchildren, Marjorie and Robert Lee Simons of Lorimor and three sisters; Mrs. Nancy McVey of Indianola, Mrs. Lee Thompson of Miami and Mrs. Laura Gates.

Funeral services were held at Mt. Ayr, Monday, at 1:30 p.m. and the body was brought here for burial in the Winterset cemetery.
