HELEN P. FARLIN, WINTERSET

Helen P. (Smith) Farlin, 89 of Winterset died Monday June 25, 2007 at Winterset Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Visitation will be held prior to the services, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Lorimor Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Middle River Hospice of Care Center South both of Winterset.

Helen was born July 22, 1917 on a farm near Lorimor. She is the daughter of Charles and Veva (Neely) Smith. She attended New Hope No. 3 grade school and was a graduate of Lorimor High School. Her marriage to Kenneth Farlin took place May 14, 1939 in Winterset. During their life together Kenneth farmed, built fence and worked at Meredith Publishing. Helen stayed at home on the farm helping Kenneth with the chores and gardening, vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed doing things for other people.

Helen is survived by a brother, Wesley Smith and his wife Norma of Lorimor; a sister-in-law, Leona Farlin Carlson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth in 1987; a sister, Olive Smith; and three brothers-Floyd, Dale and Stanley.
