JOHN V. FORTUNE DIES

John V. Fortune, former Madison county resident died at his home in Des Moines, last Wednesday following an extended illness. Mr. Fortune who was 84 years of age had been in poor health for several years.

Mr. Fortune was born in Rising Sun, Iowa, but came to Madison county about twenty-five years ago and located on a farm near Truro. He later lived on a farm near Peru and returned to Polk county three years ago.

He is survived by his widow, Maude; six daughters, Mrs. Mont Garton of Backus, Minn., Mrs. Guy Quillin of Genesco, Ill., Mrs. Lee Hiskey of Prole, Mrs. Gail Barker of St. Charles, Mrs. Arthur Faux of Des Moines, Mrs. Harley Oglesbee of Van Meter and one son, Gaylord of Genesco.

Funeral services were held at E. Carl White's funeral home in Des Moines Thursday, June 19th at 2 p.m. and burial was made in the Altoona cemetery.
