Alan Lance "Alf" Followwill, 27, of Independence Mo., died Jan. 20, 2005 as a result of an accident at his work place-the Courtney Bend Water Treatment Plant in Independence.

A memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 24 at the First United Methodist Church in Independence.

Lance Followwill was born March 18, 1977 in Independence, Mo., to Charles David and Carole J. (Lents) Followwill. He spent his early life in Bloomfield, graduating from Davis High School in 1995. Lance was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Desert Storm. For the past three and one-half years he worked as a pipeman for the Independence Water Department. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles J. Followwill and John and Muriel Lents.

He is survived by his parents, David and Carole, of Independence, Mo.; two brothers, Aaron Followwill of Independence and Eric Followwill of Granger; and his grandmother, Irene L. Followwill of West Des Moines and formerly of St. Charles.
