Winterset, IowaMRS. J. J. ROBINS DIES
Mrs. Joseph J. Robbins, a former resident of Decatur county, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. M. Saxton in Winterset last Thursday, Nov. 21st. She was 87 years of age. Mrs. Robbins was the former Sarah Angeline Lasley, daughter of Andrew and Julia Ann Lasley and was born in Davis county, Aug. 1, 1853.
When she was just a child she moved with her parents to Decatur county where, with the exception of the last eight years, her entire life was spent.
She was married Oct. 16, 1870, to Joseph J. Robbins who passed away in 1931. They were the parents of nine children. They are: Crate, deceased; Mrs. C. S. Gibson of San Jose, Cal.; Mrs. Harve McClaran of Decatur; Mrs. Hayes McClaran of Cody, Neb.; Frank of Indianola; Martin of Lamoni; Mrs. William Asbach of St. Joseph, Mo.; Fred of Excelsior Springs, Mo; and Mrs. H. M. Saxton of Winterset. She leaves 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; also three brothers.
In her earlier life, Mrs. Robbins became a member of the United Brethren church, but in 1914 she united with the Seventh Day Adventist church in Davis City and remained a faithful member.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church at Davis City, in charge of Elder B. Peterson of the Seventh Day Adventist church at Atlantic. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
