Funeral Services Held Last Thursday From United Brethren Church
Booneville--(Special)--Giles W. Roberts, a resident of near here for the past 14 years, died on Tuesday of last week at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, where he had been for three weeks. He was 68 years of age.
Mr. Roberts was born in Warren county, Ill., Sept. 19, 1872, the son of George and Mary E. Roberts. In 1880 he came with his parents to Warren county, Iowa. On Dec. 10, 1903, he was married to Miss Minnie E. Nine. They were the parents of five children, four of whom survive. The wife died in 1918.
On Oct. 12, 1920, he was married to Mrs. Minnie Curtis, who survives him.
Mr. Roberts lived in both Warren and Lucas counties before moving to the Gutshall farm near Booneville, where he had since resided.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Mrs. Mable Stewart, and Mrs. Juanita Yocum of Des Moines, Dan Roberts of Dubuque, and William Roberts of Newton, a step-daughter Mrs. Ruth Storm of Chariton, two brothers, Jed Roberts of Des Moines and Ora Roberts of Chariton; and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Chappel, Mrs. Laura Anderson and Mrs. Lennie Malone all of Chariton.
Funeral services were held last Thursday from the United Brethren church, conducted by the Rev. E. A. Elliott of Des Moines assisted by the pastor the Rev. David Thompson. Burial was made at Chariton.
