MRS. U. S. WOODWARD PASSED SATURDAY

Life-Long Madison County Resident Succumbs at Age of 69 Years

Mrs. Ella Woodward, a life-long resident of Madison county, died at her home near Winterset last Saturday. She was 69 years of age.

Mrs. Woodward was a Gold Star mother, having lost one son, Willis Floyd Woodward, in the service of his country during the World war. She was also a charter member of the Women's auxillary of Green Rogers post, American Legion.

Mrs. Woodward was the former Ella Wilmetta Rollstin, daughter of Porter and Nancy Jane Rollstin, and was born in Madison county on Feb. 9, 1871. With the exception of a year in Colorado Springs, Colo. her entire life was spent in this county.

She became a member of the Baptist church at an early age, and was active in church work as long as her health permitted.

On Sept. 28, 1892, she was married to Ulysses S. Woodward. They were the parents of three children.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Warren Travis and Mrs. Donal Lillard, both of Winterset; two sisters, Mrs. C. B. Holmes, and Mrs. F. G. Martin, both of Winterset; a brother, Sherman Rollstin of Allens Park, Col.; and two grandchildren, Marcia and David Lillard of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. J. H. Cochrane, Jr., pastor of the Winterset Baptist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Pallbearers at the rites were Lester Holmes, Rex Martin, Ed Cain, and Clifford Martin of Winterset, and Donald Woodward of Des Moines.
