Staff Sergeant Ricky Lynn Brashears, 49, of Winterset died April 2, 2002.
Memorial services were held Sunday April 7, at Fort Des Moines with Chaplin Don Harrison officiating. Military honors were performed by the 372nd Engineering Group-89th Regional Support Command. Commander remarks were by Colonel Gary Braddock.
Ricky Brashears was born March 27, 1953 in Anderson, Ind. He was a 1971 graduate of Anderson High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army. For the past 11 years, Ricky had been on active duty with the Army Reserve.
He is survived by his wife, Jone, a daughter, Blair and two step-daughters, Rachel and Leah all of Winterset; a daughter, Andrea of Denver, Colo.; and his mother Bea Bodine, and a brother, Mike both of Anderson, Ind.
