Page 1Death of Mrs. Mary Blair
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Blair, a former resident of Madison county, died Wednesday, March 20th at her home in Afton at the age of 73 years. Mrs. Blair's name was Gentry previous to her marriage to Alexander Blair on February 26, 1874.
They began housekeeping on a farm and continued to live in Madison county until 1901 when they moved to a farm near Afton in Union county. They were the parents of ten children: Della Pinckney and Charles of Macksburg; Frank, Lillie Olmstead, Onie Spencer, Ena Ritter and Grover of Afton; Lula Wick of Victoria, Texas, and Clyde of Shannon City. One daughter, Emma Shearer died in 1904. She also leaves one brother, Frank Gentry of Freewater, Oregon, 37 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The Reverend Mr. Crippen of Van Horn, conducted the funeral services at the Evangelical church in Afton and burial was made in the Afton cemetery.
