Mrs. Ella Bishop Dies

Mrs. Ella Bishop, former Winterset resident died at her home in Des Moines Friday, April first. Mrs. Bishop was the former Ella Mary Garlinger, the daughter of the late John and Charlotte McCabe Garlinger. She was born at Winterset December 3, 1875.

In 1893 she was married to Carl Childress of Winterset and they were the parents of three daughters; Mrs. Elizabeth Downs of Waterloo; Mrs. Robert Hall of Creston; and Eva Childress of Des Moines. Mr. Childress died in January 1903 and she was later married to Oliver Bishop of Winterset. To them were born two children; Stella and Oliver Jr. of Des Moines. Besides her children, Mrs. Bishop leaves four grandchildren and two brothers, Harry McCabe of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Earnest of Emporia, Kansas and two half sisters, Mrs. Maude Woods of Independence, Missouri and Mrs. Gertrude Simpson of Kansas City.

After the death of Mr. Bishop in 1912 his wife made her home in Creston and later moved to Des Moines where she has resided the past ten years. Her death was due to a complication of diseases.

Funeral services were held Monday April 4th at three o'clock at the Lilly funeral home in Des Moines and interment was made in the Fairhaven cemetery in Des Moines.
