Mardell Bickel, Winterset

Mardell E. Bickel, 94, of Winterset and formerly of Sacramento, Calif., died Oct. 9, 2005 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16 at the United Congregation Church in Anita.

Mardell Bickel was born Feb. 23, 1911 in Chanute, Kan., to Clarence C. and Edna (Osborn) Emerick. In 1929 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Samual Bickel. Mardell resided for most of her adult life in Martinez, Calif. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Eastern Star/Rebecca Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Kenneth E. Bickel; and two brothers, Merle Emerick and Don Emerick.

She is survived by one son, Robert Bickel of Boulder City, Nev.; and seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
