John A. Leutzinger Moved West in February, Died March 25
Word has been received by relatives in Madison county of the death, at Spokane, Wash., on March 25, of John Andrew Leutzinger, formerly of near Patterson.
Mr. Leutzinger was born in Marion county, but came to this county as a young man and spent several years near Patterson. He later returned to Marion county and then moved to Saskatchewan province in Canada, where he spent most of his active life.
He returned to Madison county in 1938, but after two years here he moved to Washington last February. He was 58 years of age at the time of his death.
Mr. Leutzinger was a brother of Mrs. Glen Ballard of St. Charles, and an uncle of Jack Hammans of Lorimor. He is survived by his wife, and a daughter, Mrs. Frank Fox of Dysart, Saskatchewan, Canada.

John Andrew Leutzinger, only son of Henry and Jane E. Leutzinger, was born near Pleasantville, Marion county, Iowa, on Sept. 12, 1881. In the spring of 1898, he, with his family, moved near Patterson and farmed in Madison county several years.
Later he returned to Marion county. In 1912 he purchased a farm near Osage, Saskatchewan, Canada, and lived there until 1938 when he returned to Madison county.
He was married to Katherine Miranda Merritt of Pleasantville, Iowa in 1914. To them was born one daughter, Eleanor, now Mrs. Frank Fox of Dysart, Saskatchewan, Canada.
In February, 1940, he and his wife moved to Spokane, Washington, where he met his death on March 2. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, daughter, one sister, Mrs. Glenn Ballard of St. Charles; one grandson, one niece, Mrs. Amel Slaybaugh of Arispe; one nephew Jack Hammans, Lorimor; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Ralph Hammans.
