Winterset, IowaVirgil Fenimore Died on Tuesday
Virgil L. Fenimore of Winterset died Tuesday, Sept. 30, while on a vacation trip to Florida, according to word received here, Tuesday night.
The message was received from Tallahassee, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Fenimore and his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Comp, had left here Sept. 21 on the Florida trip, and may have been starting home when the death occurred.
Mr. Fenimore was 56 years of age. He had suffered from a heart condition for some time.
He was a life-long resident of Madison County, and had operated the Winterset Oil company here for many years.
Near surviving relatives include his wife, the former Gertrude Baker; and two sisters, Mrs. George Finney and Mrs. Frank Comp, both of this community.
Funeral arrangements had not been made as the Madisonian went to press Wednesday.

Winterset Business Man Had Died Sept. 30 on Trip to Florida
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Winterset Methodist church for Virgil L. Fenimore, Winterset business man whose death had occurred Sept. 30 while on a motor trip to Florida.
Mr. Fenimore had been stricken with a heart attack at Tallahassee, Fla., and died in the Memorial hospital there.
Mr. Fenimore was a life-long resident of Madison County. He was born near Peru, Oct. 9, 1895, a son of Willard and Iva A. Fenimore. His early life was spent in that community and later in the West Star neighborhood. He came to Winterset in 1916 and had lived in this community since that time. He engaged in the oil business here.
He was married Sept 20, 1922, to Gertrude Baker of Peru, who survives him.
At an early age he united with the West Star Methodist church, later transferring to the Methodist church in Winterset, where he had been a member for 29 years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mable Comp and Mrs. Irma Finney, both of Winterset.
The Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church, conducted the funeral services Sunday. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
