MRS. EMMA KITT OF WINTERSET PASSES

Elderly Resident Died Last Saturday at Age of 81 Years

Mrs. Emma Kitt, a resident of Winterset for the past 10 years, died last Saturday at the home here of her son. She was 81 years of age. She was the former Emma Laundenback, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Laundenback.

Mrs. Kitt was a native of Jasper county, where she was born on June 8, 1858. When she was a young woman the family moved to Penn township in this county. Here she was married to George Kitt, on Oct. 27, 1878. They were the parents of 10 children.

For a number of years, Mr. and Mrs. Kitt lived in and near Patterson. In 1930 they returned to Winterset, shortly before Mr. Kitt's death.

Mrs. Kitt was affiliated with the Penn Center Methodist church, and at the time of her death, was a member of the Methodist church at Patterson.

She is survived by five sons: J. F. Kitt of Sterling, Colo., Gaylord and Guy Kitt of Winterset; Ray Kitt of Orient and John Kitt of Des Moines; four daughters, Bertha McKirkin, Stella Woverton of Conrad, Mont., May Lynn of Des Moines, and Daisy Hann of Des Moines; 26 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Anderson home for funerals in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. J. R. McNichols, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
