DEATH OF J. F. PENN

J. F. Penn, long time resident of Madison county, died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, Thursday, August 2, at 11 o’clock. He had been in poor health for some time, and was taken there for treatment, and an operation, several weeks ago.

Mr. Penn, who was 68 years of age, was a son of Edmund and Martha Penn, and was born in Warren county, September 13, 1865. On January 8, 1896, he was married to Clara Mills, and to this union were born five children, who, with his wife, survive him. The children are as follows: Mrs. Velma Fipps of Osceola, Ivan Penn of Winterset, Mrs. Delpha Costela of Boston, Massachusetts, Raymond and William Penn of Prole. He also leaves to mourn his loss, five sisters and brothers: Mrs. Ida Rhodes of Adel, Mrs. May Dunmire and Mrs. Mary Johnston of Dexter, Mrs. Emma McLarand of Macksburg, Mrs. Minnie Taylor of Winterset, Eddie and Elmer of Dexter, and Tom Penn of Winterset. Four grandchildren survive him.

The deceased had lived near Winterset most of his life, and had made many friends in this community.

The Rev. H. L. Olmstead conducted his funeral services at the Church of Christ, Saturday afternoon, August 4th, at 2 o’clock and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
