FALL IN BOILING WATER FATAL TO ROGERS CHILD

18 Months Old Daughter Of Mr., Mrs. Chester Rogers Dies at Hospital

Joan Rogers, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Rogers of Winterset, died in the local hospital early Wednesday morning from burns received when she fell in a pail of boiling water. The child was about 18 months old.

The girl received the fatal burns while playing at home last Friday. She was taken to the Winterset hospital where a five day battle to save her life was unsuccessful.

Funeral arrangements had not been made as the Madisonian went to press. Burial will take place in the Winterset cemetery.

JoAnn Rogers

JoAnn, daughter of Chester and Geneva Moore Rogers was born in Winterset, may 26, 1932, and died at the hospital in Winterset Wednesday morning, January 17, 1934, aged one year, seven months and eleven days.

She is survived by her parents and one brother, Jerry, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rogers of Winterset and Mrs. and Mrs. Tom Moore of Beaconfield, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at the Tidrick funeral home January 18, at two o’clock, Rev. L. H. Lanning, pastor of the First Methodist church, having charge of the services. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
