Mrs. Lydia Thomson, wife of E. B. Thomson, of McPherson, died at her home Sunday evening, the 6th inst. At her death Mrs. Thomson lacked one day of being 83 years old. The family were among the earliest settlers, as well as the oldest people in the southwestern part of Madison county. The census last year showed Mr. and Mrs. Thomson to be the oldest married couple in Monroe township. Further particulars have not yet been furnished to us.

Lydia Charlotte Morse was born in Herkimer Co., New York, October 8, 1819. At the age of 14 years moved with her parents to Marion Co., Ohio. January 21, 1901 (sic) was united in marriage to Edmund B. Thomson, In 1855 moved with her husband to John- (line at bottom of page missing) this union were born 8 children. Only 2 survive, Mahula Hamlin of Roseburg, Oregon, and Minnie E. Rogers of Monroe township. She leaves an aged husband, two daughters and many grand and great-grandchildren besides two brothers to mourn her loss, also many kind friends who so kindly aided in her last sickness and death. The family kindly thank all who extended their aid and sympathy to them in the loss of their loved one.
