JOHN HIRCOCK DIED SUDDENLY THURSDAY

Winterset Resident Stricken While at Work; Was 68 Years Old

John O. Hircock of Winterset died suddenly last Thursday. His death occurred at the Winterset community auction where he was employed. He became ill suddenly there and died within a few minutes. He was 68 years of age.

Mr. Hircock was a life-long resident of Madison county. He was born here on Sept. 29, 1871, the son of William and Elizabeth Hircock. On Oct. 4, 1893, he was married to Anna C. Jackson. They were the parents of six children, all of whom survive him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Alma Hull and Mrs. Almira Hampton, both of Des Moines, and Mrs. Regina Hayden of Peru; three sons, Ray Hircock of Winterset, Raymond Hircock of Des Moines and Donald Hircock at home; 17 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Beem of Winterset and Mrs. Flora Kennedy of Merna, Neb.; three brothers, Willie Hircock of Anselmo, Neb., Fred Hircock of Merna, Neb., and Charlie Hircock of Glendale, Ariz.

Funeral services were held from Ramsey-Richards funeral home in Winterset Saturday, in charge of the Rev. F. F. Schwindt of Des Moines. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Fell Dead of Heart Attack While He Was Working At Sale Barn Here.

John Hircock, 68-year-old lifetime resident of Madison county, fell dead shortly after noon last Thursday at the Community Auction barn in the north part of Winterset. He was on duty as a marshal assisting and parking cars at the time.

Death was attributed to a heart attack

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Ramsey–Richards funeral home, the Rev. F. F. Schwindt of Des Moines officiating. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Hircock is survived by his wife, three daughters, Alma Hull and Almira Hampton and Regina Hayden of Peru; three sons, Roy of Winterset, Raymond of Des Moines and Donald at home; also seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Beem of Winterset and Flora Kennedy of Merna, Nebraska; three brothers, Willie of Anselmo, Nebraska and Charles of Glendale, Arizona.

John Omer Hircock was the son of William and Elizabeth Hircock and was born Sept. 29, 1871 in Madison county. He departed this life March 21 at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 21 days.

He spent his entire life in this community and on Oct. 4, 1893 he was united in marriage to Anna C. Jackson. To this union were born six children. Mr. Hircock was preceded in death by his father, mother and two sisters, Mrs. Etta Harrell and Mrs. Dora Whitney.
