Winterset Resident Died at Age of 87 Years After Short Illness
Mrs. Elizabeth Heater, one of the older residents of Winterset, and Madison county, died at her home on East Court avenue at 8:30 o'clock this morning. Mrs. Heater who was 87 years of age, had been seriously ill since Friday.
A brief prayer service for Mrs. Heater will be held at her home Sunday afternoon at 1:30, followed by services at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home at two o'clock.
Mrs. Heater was the former Elizabeth Rapp, the daughter of John and -----Rapp, and was born in West Virginia March 22, 1852. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Uriah Heater. They came to Madison county in 1885, and located on a farm near Macksburg. Her husband, a Civil war veteran, died about 40 years ago. Mrs. Heater moved to Winterset in 1910 and this place has since been her home.
She is survived by two daughters, Miss Jennie, with whom she resided, and Mrs. Elbert Hiskey of Cedar Falls. She also leaves four granddaughters, Mrs. V. B. Foster and Mrs. Fred Herren of Waterloo, Mrs. Richard Brandrup of Fort Dodge, and Mrs. Oscar Anderson of Buckingham, Ia. She also leaves two brothers, James Rapp of West Virginia, Ben Rapp of Missouri and a sister, Mrs. Adelaine Butcher of West Virginia and six great grandchildren. three of her children have preceded her in death: Daniel, Dora and William Heater.
