Christopher C. Miller, a life long resident of Madison county who had been seriously ill for three weeks, died on Thanksgiving Day at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Ralph Johnson. Mr. Miller had a partial stroke of paralysis more than a year ago, and he had been in poor health since that time. Mr. Miller was 75 years of age.
The deceased who was commonly known as "Lum" Miller was a son of William and Cynthia Miller and was born in Winterset, November 25, 1854. His entire life was spent in Winterset. He was married here to Margaret Benson in 1877 and to this union four children were born; Mrs. Myrtle Huss of Winterset; Mrs. Lillie Banto of Winnepeg, Canada; Ray Miller of Des Moines, and John who died at the age of three years. Mrs. Miller died January 27, 1927 and Mr. Miller had kept up the home since that time.
Mr. Miller had been a teamster since he was a boy. It is stated that there is not anyone in the county who has hauled as many loads.
He leaves besides his children, 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and one half-sister, Mrs. Eliza Beard of Winterset.
The Rev. H. L. Olmstead conducted the funeral services Saturday afternoon, November 30th at the Church of Christ and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Christopher Columbus Miller, "Lum", died at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Ralph Johnston, Thanksgiving day. He was 75 years old, and was born in Winterset in 1854. his father's family lived at the intersection of Eighth avenue and Summit street during the Civil War and for many years after. "Lum" was perhaps the oldest Winterset born person.
His entire life has been spent in Winterset. he was married here to Margaret Benson in 1877. To this union four children were born, Mrs Myrtle Huss of Winterset; Mrs. Lillie Banto, of Winnepeg, Canada; Ray Miller of Des Moines, and John, who died at the age of three years. Mrs. Miller died January 27, 1927. Since then he had kept up the home, but after a partial stroke of paralysis, more than a year ago, he has been able to work but little.
"Lum" Miller was a hard working man. He loved a horse and his entire life was spent in teaming. His team was his first care after his day's work was done. His was the last team in Winterset that the auto displaced.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Church of Christ conducted by the pastor, the Rev. H. L. Olmstead; burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
