Death of Lewis W. Nelson

Lewis Wilbur Nelson died Friday, August 9th at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Nelson. He was 52 years old at the time of his death. Mr. Nelson was injured ten years ago and had been in ill health since. For the past three years he had been unable to continue his work.

Mr. Nelson was born at Bedford, April 21, 1877. While a small child the family moved to Nebraska. They returned to Iowa and made their home at Stuart. At an early age, Mr. Nelson commenced his work as an interior decorator. He was married to Miss Daisy Edwards in 1898. They lived in Ottumwa for a year after their marriage. Mrs. Nelson died in Ottumwa.

Mr. Nelson is survived by his parents, one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Farrow of Los Angeles, and two brothers, Otto N. Nelson of Winterset and Porter J. Nelson of Kansas City.

Rev. A. P. Keast conducted the funeral services at the Alonzo Nelson home in Winterset, Sunday, August 11th and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Lewis Wilbur Nelson

Lewis Wilbur, son of Alonzo and Viola Nelson, was born at Bedford, Iowa, April 21, 1877. When he was still a baby the family moved to Nebraska. After seven years they returned to Stuart where Lewis attended school and spent most of his boyhood. At an early age he began his work as an interior decorator. He was artistic in his work and became very successful. Later his profession took him into many states where he decorated many of the finest homes and public buildings.

He was married to Daisy Edwards in 1898. They lived at Ottumwa for one year after their marriage, where Mrs. Nelson passed away. Since then he had travelled much. He was a man of attractive personality, so friendly and kind that everyone loved him and he had many friends in many places.

He was a man of strong physique until he was injured ten years ago. He never regained his health. In the past three years, he had been unable to continue his work and he passed away at the home of his parents in Winterset on August 9, 1929, aged 52, 3 months and 19 days.

He leaves besides his parents, one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Farrow of Los Angeles, California and two brothers, Otto N. Nelson of Winterset and Porter J. Nelson of Kansas City.
