Prominent Farmer Thought to Have Been Despondent Over Car Accident
M. L. Douglas, prosperous farmer of Ohio township, shot himself to death in the basement of his home about five miles southeast of St. Charles early last Friday morning. He was 63 years of age.
Mr. Douglas had been in a serious automobile wreck in Warren county the preceding day, in which he received some injuries. He is thought to have been despondent over the accident and his injuries.
Mr. Douglas had been for many years a highly respected citizen of his community.
He is survived by his wife, the former Stella Pahl of Truro, and by one brother, Ernest Douglas of Winterset.
Funeral services were held from his home Sunday, and burial was made in the Worthing cemetery northeast of Truro.
