WILLIAM F. DAVIS DIED HERE SUNDAY

Funeral Rites Held Here Tuesday With Burial at Earlham

William F. Davis, a long-time resident of Madison county and Winterset, died suddenly Sunday of a heart attack here. He was 69 years of age.

Mr. Davis was a native of Ohio, where he was born on Nov. 14, 1870. He came to Madison county as a young man, settling near Earlham, where he lived for many years.

He is survived by several sons. One son, Clyde Davis, died in 1938.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Methodist church here. Burial was made at the Earlham cemetery.

DEATH CLAIMS WM. F. DAVIS

Was Resident Of Madison County 69 Years. Funeral Tuesday Afternoon.

William F. Davis, 69 years of age, died suddenly at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al Hildebrand in the east part of town. Mr. Davis had been in ill health for the past several months.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 in the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, by the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

He is survived by seven children and 16 grandchildren. They are, Mrs. Pearl Bainter of Van Meter; Mrs. Evaline Brown of Des Moines; and Cecil of New Sharon. In addition to these descendants there remains three brothers, Charley and John of Winterset and Cap of Earlham; also two sisters, Mrs. Ross Trester of Earlham and Mrs. Mae Reynolds of Des Moines.

William Franklin Davis, eldest child of James and Arville Davis, was born Nov. 14, 1870 on a farm near Van Meter, Ia., and died Sept. 22 at the age of 69 years, 10 months and eight days.

He was married Nora Mae White on Jan. 1, 1896 and to this union nine children were born, six sons and three daughters. His wife preceded him in death Dec. 5, 12916. One daughter, Phyllis, died in infancy, another son, Clyde died in 1938. Mr. Davis spent his entire life in and near Earlham and Winterset, the past 20 years being in Winterset. He united with the Church of Christ in early life.
