John Wesley Morgan, son of William and Mary Morgan, passed away at his home, June 13, 1930 at the age of 79 years and 29 days. He was born in Jefferson county, Indiana. When a small boy he moved to Muscatine county. March 21, 1874 he was united in marriage to Mary Woods, moving to Madison county the following fall.
Six children were born to this union, Annie Belle,Rachel, Georgie, who all died in infancy; Archie, Sammy and Ethel of Peru. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death, leaving one brother, Tine Morgan of Morris, Oklahoma. Besides his wife, children and brother, he leaves to mourn his death, eight grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
Relatives who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. Janey Morgan and son, Everett of Donophin, Nebraska; Mrs. Lizzie Morgan and children, Mrs. Mamie Craft, Rose O'Brien, Willie and Frank Morgan of Stanley; Jim Jenkins and family of Boone; E. N. Woods of Wakefield, Kansas; Elmer Woods of Perry; Ray Woods and family of Grand River; Carl Woods and family, Hiram Woods and family and Lloyd and True Woods of Murray.
