D. V. CRAWFORD DIES

Prominent Madison Township Farmer Dies at Home of Son in Sac County

D. V. Crawford, well known Madison township farmer died at the home of his son, Jake Crawford, of Arthur, in Sac county, Saturday, March 2. He suffered a stroke which caused his death shortly afterwards.

Mr. Crawford who was 76 years of age, was born on the Crawford farm in Madison township, that has always been his home. He was a son of Lewis and Elizabeth Crawford. His wife, who was the former Lillie Jordan, died two years ago. Mr. Crawford was spending the winter with his son Jake at Arthur.

He is survived by his four children, Harold and Ross Crawford of Madison township, Jake of Arthur, and Mrs. Ruth Chestnutwood. He also leaves one sister living at Audubon, two sisters and two brothers having preceded him in death.

His funeral services were held at the Christian church in Earlham at 1:30 o'clock, Tuesday, and burial was made in the Earlham cemetery. More particulars of his life may be found in the mortuary on page six.

MORTUARY

Denison Valandingham Crawford, son of Lewis and Elizabeth Wever Crawford, was born December 24, 1863, at the Crawford homestead south of Earlham, which has always been his home, and departed from this life on March 2, 1940, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 7 days, at the home of his son Jake where he had been spending the winter.

He was united in marriage to Lillie D. Jordan on February 5, 1896. to this union four children were born: Ruth Chestnutwood of DeSoto, Jake of Arthur, Ross of Earlham, and Harold of Dexter. His wife preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1937.

Landing, as he was commonly known, was a kind husband, a loving father, and a good neighbor.

Besides his children, he is survived by three grandsons, and four granddaughters, one sister, Mrs. Caroline Rippey of Audubon, several nieces, and nephews, and many other relatives.

Landing, as he was commonly known, was a kind husband, a loving father and a good neighbor.

Besides his children he is survived by three grandsons, four granddaughters, one sister, Mrs. Caroline Rippey of Audubon, Iowa, several nieces and nephews, many other relatives, and a host of friends.

Funeral services in charge of S. C. Welch and held in the Earlham Church of Christ with Rev. Reed Kessler of Worthington, officiating.
