FLORENCE CHAMBERLAIN OF WORTHINGTON DIES

Elderly Woman Had Been Resident of County Since 1900

Mrs. Florence F. Chamberlain, a resident of Madison county since 1900, died on Monday of last week at the home of her son, Clyde Chamberlain of Worthington. She was 82 years of age.

Mrs. Chamberlain was born May 13, 1858, at Monticello, the daughter of George W. and Catharine Curtis. Her early life was spent in that community.

She was married to Arch B. Chamberlain on Dec. 20, 1881. They were the parents of three children. They were Clyde Chamberlain, Ernest N. Chamberlain, and Mrs. Catharine E. Shaffer.

Mr. Chamberlain preceded her in death on May 13, 1931, and one son, Ernest, died in 1912.

In addition to the two children, she is survived by a sister in California, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the Worthington church in charge of the Rev. A. P. Keast, assisted by the Rev. Paul Crouse. Burial was made in the cemetery at Earlham.

Florence Chamberlain, daughter of George W. and Catharine Curtis was born May 13, 1858, near Monticello, Jones county, Iowa, and passed from this life September 30, 1940, at the age of 82 years, at the home of her son, Clyde.

Her early life was spent at Monticello. She joined the church there as a young woman, and has always been a faithful member.

She was a charter member of the Worthington Ladies Aid, in which she was vitally interested all through the years.

She was united in marriage to Arch B. Chamberllain December 20, 1881. To this union three children were born. Clyde C.; Ernest N. and Catharine E. Shaffer. Besides caring for her own family, she made a home for nieces and nephews.

They moved to Madison county in 1900. Her husband preceded her in death May 13, 1931, also one son Ernest N. in August 1912.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Clyde and Catharine, an aged sister in California, six granddaughters, and one great grandson, besides several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. P. Keast of Des Moines, a former pastor, and Rev. Paul Crouse, at the Worthington church, and burial in Earlham cemetery.
