BEN CAMPBELL, OF WINTERSET, PASSES

Funeral Services Will Be Held Thursday Afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

Benjamin N. Campbell, one of Madison county's oldest residents, died at his home in Winterset, Tuesday, after a long illness. Had he lived until Saturday, he would have been 81 years of age.

Mr. Campbell was a native of Virginia, where he was born on September 7, 1859, the son of Silas and Mary Catherine Richey Campbell. When he was about 17 years of age, he came to Madison county, settling north of Winterset.

Through all of his active life, he followed the trade of carpentering.

He was married on December 25, 1882, to Mrs. Ella Buckmaster. They were the parents of six children, three of whom survive. They lived for many years on a farm east of town, and for the past 21 years, their home had been in Winterset.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Grace Chew, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, two sons, Dewey and Arthur Campbell, of Winterset, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
