Former Madison County Resident Passes at Home in Des Moines
Mrs. Mary Francis Breeding, a long-time resident of Madison county, died on Tuesday of last week at her home in Des Moines after three years of failing health. She was 87 years of age.
Mrs. Breeding was a native of Adair county, Kentucky, where she was born March 6, 1853. At the age of 21 years she came to Iowa to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Carter near Patterson. She taught school for about a year, and on Sept. 2, 1875, was married to G. J. Breeding. They were the parents of six children, only two of whom survive their mother. Her husband died in 1924.
Mrs. Breeding had been a member of the United Brethren church since 1900.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Nora Wooten, and a son, Harry M. Breeding, both of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at Blair Chapel last Friday in charge of her United Brethren pastor of Des Moines.
